Songs to Our Lady is an original collection of songs and pieces, celebrating the life of Virgin Mary, and her significance in the history of Christianity. The historical wingspan of the music is large. Composers include a. o. Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179), Henry Purcell (1659-1695), Rued Langgaard (1893-1952) and myself.

It is the soprano Elisabeth Meyer-Topsøe and organist at the Ribe Cathedral Birgitte Ebert who have joint forces in this project, recorded in Ribe Cathedral, which was inaugurated in the name of Virgin Mary.

With this CD in the player, you are bound for a voyage into a stylistically varied landscape, but the moods you encounter are very balanced, and makes a percect whole. The texts are interpreted with devotion and taste and the balance between the two fine musicians is good in the adorable acoustics of Ribe Cathedral.
