Hi, and thanks for dropping by!                                                                              Program note article:

2011 and the beginning of 2012 was spent working on the opera Orkestergraven. The world premiere

took place the 16th of march at the operahouse in Odense, and we really thought, we had something to

be proud of. Luckily the audience and reviewers agreed: “Bo Gunge’s music (...) has an edge, is

listenable in the Puccini-way, (...) dances lightly, posesses lots of agitating pulse, and (...) is capable of creating the different moods of the drama precisely.” These were Henrik Lyding’s words in Jyllands Posten and Søren Schauser ended his review in Berlingske Tidende like this: “Orkestergraven is in a way to strong for the stage of Den Fynske Opera. The music deserves a bigger house and maybe some less vulgar effects.” (Links to the full reviews (in danish) by clicking the newspapers name)

Shortly after, I was working on the next project, an anniversary-work for the choir organisation kor72, Det værste og det bedste, to texts by Søren Ulrik Thomsen. It has become a 23 minute piece for large choor, little choir, two soli and symphony orchestra. Its premiere will be at Odense Koncerthus the 28th of october. 2012. Søren K. Hansen will be conducting.

During summer I also had the pleasure of writing/arranging for a javanese gamelan ensemble. At the opening of this years Langgaard Festival, it played together with the bells of Ribe Cathedral. Music students from the local High School was playing the exotic instruments, led by head of the Percussion Department at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Henrik Larsen.

And there was also time for a new composition to Storstrøms symfoniorkester, which will be premiered the 7th of october in Sakskøbing. Henrik Vagn Christensen will be conducting.

Ahead of me, I now have work on two duos, and later this winter I will be working on a piece for Sønderjyllands symfoniorkester, a -seasonopener for their 50-year jubilee next year.

But since you are here, in the “professional” part of the page, I presume you’re interested in rather practical, and factual information about my pieces. Below I have borrowed pictures from some of the ensembles I have worked with. I have used them to divide my list of works into categories. This way it’s easy to find what you seek, I hope.

Enjoy yourself!
